Squat & Stride: Office Activity Challenge

Break up long periods of sitting with quick “activity snacks” to boost your energy, get your blood flowing, and help your muscles use nutrients more effectively. Moving often can also help keep your blood sugar levels in check!

Challenge Details:

  • Duration: 1 Week
  • Task: Every hour, on the hour, perform 15 bodyweight squats (to a chair if needed) or take a short walk around the office.
  • Why: Short bursts of movement can increase dietary amino acid utilization for muscle protein synthesis and improve blood sugar control. In other words, this means that quick activities like squats or short walks help your muscles better absorb nutrients from food, making them stronger, while also keeping your blood sugar more stable throughout the day.

How to Participate:

  1. Set a reminder every hour during work hours.
  2. Choose either:
    • 15 Bodyweight Squats
    • 1-2 Minute Walk
  3. Amber Romero will be coming around to different parts of the AZ office’s throughout the week to lead the quick “activity snack”. Those is NM and TX get together with your team and perform your activity snack!
  4. Track your progress on a personal log. Those who participate the most during this time will have the chance to win APEX swag. Submit to Amber Romero via teams or email (am.romero@noxgroup.us) no later than end of day Monday 4/14 to be entered into a raffle! Raffle will include AZ, NM and TX employees.
